My children always said they would have preferred the spankings because their punishment would have been over faster. I do have the satisfaction of knowing I did the right thing though because now my children have grown into wonderful adults. I have sons as well but they have not started families of their own yet. Very wise advice. As a grandma myself I stay as respectful as I can to the wishes of my grandchildren's parents. I answer only when asked. But it's hard when you've got the life experience to put a clamp on your tongue. Having two sons, makes it harder for me thanI imagine it would for you because sooner or later girls come round to their mothers. That's okay, I guess, as long as us ma-in-laws don't get left out of the loop entirely. We think alike about the issue of to spank or not to spank.
